People searching for office-based roles such as finance jobs in London may be helped if the public and private sectors worked more closely together in the wake of the worldwide financial slump, it has been suggested.According to the Recruitment and Employment Confederation (REC), increased levels of co-operation between the two areas of the country's jobs market would benefit both organisations and individuals looking for opportunities, as "a pipeline of suitable staff for employers" would be created. This comes shortly after the REC announced a memorandum of understanding between it and Jobcentre Plus, which aims to "address barriers to employment through better support and training". Darra Singh, chief executive of Jobcentre Plus, commented: "The partnership between Jobcentre Plus and REC has been a real success - offering unemployed professionals the opportunity to access support from specialist recruitment agencies." Meanwhile, Piya Khanna of Change to Succeed recently stated that more women are now seeking alternative office-based roles. Posted by Mary King
