CIPD: Employees concerned about lack of pension provisions The majority of employees in the UK are concerned about the fact that they are not saving enough for their retirement, new research has shown.

According to the Employee Outlook: Focus on Pensions study published today (January 28th 2011) by the Chartered Institute of Personnel and Development (CIPD), some 56 per cent of workers across all sectors are worried about their lack of financial planning for their futures.

Meanwhile, the investigation, which involved surveying more than 2,000 employees, also found that 54 per cent are not currently in a workplace pension scheme, a figure which may mean that these people have monetary issues when they retire.

Charles Cotton, reward adviser at the CIPD, remarked that the government must support efforts made by organisations to "communicate to employees the implications" of the upcoming changes to the auto-enrolment pension system.

This comes after Diana Bruce, policy advisor at the Chartered Institute of Payroll Professionals, noted that companies must be willing to offer workers non-financial benefits in 2011.
