CBI: Employment laws holding back businesses Firms that are offering accountancy jobs in London could benefit from the CBI's efforts to highlight employment laws that are deemed to be harming businesses.

According to director general John Cridland, smaller companies in particular are "disproportionately affected" by some aspects of the current rules and regulations.

For instance, he said the abolition of the default retirement age and the "broken" tribunals system is proving to be counterproductive for these firms.

Mr Cridland has therefore insisted that the CBI will "shine a light" on how some parts of the legislation are "holding back" businesses.

"Clarity from the government on employment regulations is absolutely vital for companies to take on more people and create new jobs," he commented.

This comes after the government unveiled a series of proposed reforms to the legislation that affects employers.

Prime minister David Cameron said the measures are fairer and should ensure that employment law is no longer seen as a barrier to growth.
