Research: Job appointments increased in January People searching for full-time office based opportunities such as finance jobs in London may be pleased to note the findings of new research published today (February 9th 2011).

According to the latest Report on Jobs, conducted by the Recruitment and Employment Confederation (REC) and KPMG, permanent job placements increased at their fastest rate for six months during January 2011.

This could be taken as a clear sign that the country's employment market is on the road to recovery in the wake of the global economic downturn, as the document also stated that there were "stronger expansions" in both the full-time and temporary job sectors.

Furthermore, salaries for permanent members of staff also went up last month, the research added.

Kevin Green, chief executive of the REC, commented: "Employer confidence, which up until now has been fragile, is finally starting to harden. This is promising news but there is still a job to be done."

Meanwhile, Peter Panayotou of The Write Stuff noted recently that it is crucial for jobseekers to have a strong CV.
