Private sector 'looking for experienced workers' Private businesses are most interested in employing people who already have experience of working in the sector.

A study carried out by Barclays Corporate and the Financial Times stated that when firms in the private sector begin hiring again for roles such as financial jobs in London, they are going to favour people who have already held a similar position.

More than half of the firm surveyed stated that they are planning to create new positions in the coming year.

Of those questioned, 57 per cent stated that they would not be looking to employ former public sector workers as they did not think that their skills are transferable to the private market, stating that they are "not equipped".

The number of posts becoming available is on the increase, according to the latest Report on Jobs from the Recruitment and Employment Confederation and KPMG, which noted a rise in permanent placements in the six months to January 2011.
