Demand for IT jobs on the increase The number of people who were employed in IT consultancy roles and other positions in the sector rose during December 2010.

Figures from the Bank of Scotland Report on Jobs have shown that there was a rise in employment in both full-time and temporary roles in the final month of last year.

In addition, people taking on jobs in IT and computing were most in demand in Scotland during the period, which may bode well for people looking for employment in the sector across the rest of the UK.

Demand for temporary workers in the area was ranked in third place, with only those employed in the blue collar jobs and the nursing and health sector ranking higher.

"The IT and computing sector recorded the fastest rate of increase with this being marked and also a six-month high," the report stated.

Many firms are planning to expand their workforces in the coming months, with the Recruitment and Employment Confederation recently finding that 94 per cent of organisations are planning to keep staffing at current levels or expand it.  ADNFCR-3012-ID-800424014-ADNFCR
