People seeking permanent employment opportunities in office-based roles such as accountancy jobs in the City of London may have experienced a more fruitful search throughout last month. That is if new research published by the Recruitment and Employment Confederation (REC) and KPMG is anything to go by, as the two organisations' latest Report on Jobs has shown that the number of full-time job placements increased at its fastest rate for ten months in February. According to the data, "higher staff appointments were underpinned by robust growth of demand" over the course of the month, while there was also a significant increase in the number of individuals looking for jobs. Kevin Green, chief executive of the REC, observed that Britain is now in a "two-speed labour market", as the "private sector continues to hire in increasing numbers while the public sector is shedding jobs". Meanwhile, data from the Office for National Statistics showed recently that there has been an increase in the number of people over the age of 65 staying in their jobs during the last decade.
