Companies 'should strive for a balance of ages in their workforce' All companies offering roles such as finance jobs in London should attempt to comprise their workforce of an effective mix of both experienced and younger employees.

That is the view of Rachel Krys, director of Inclusive Employers, who has said that striking the right balance between age groups within a working environment is essential for managers to maximise the output of their organisation.

Ms Krys explained that older members of staff can have a "settling, calming effect" on an office due to the fact that they offer a mentality whereby they have the experience to deal with many issues that may arise.

She went on to say that people with "fresh ideas" are also vital to make sure a workforce continues to evolve and noted that these can be found in either older or younger employees.

This comes after the chancellor last week (March 23rd 2011) announced plans to invest in training for unemployed people.
