A growing number of candidates searching for roles such as accountancy jobs in the City of London are seeking professional help to make their application stand out from the crowd. That is according to Peter Panayotou, senior consultant at The Write Stuff, who said that fierce competition for employment opportunities in the aftermath of the global economic downturn has caused more people to ask the opinions of experts on how they can make sure their CV finds its way to the top of the pile. Mr Panayotou explained that jobseekers who in the past would have attempted to write their own CV are now looking to "get the edge" over the rivals, meaning they are willing to do "everything they possibly can". A study published recently (March 31st) by independent think-tank New Economics Foundation showed that government cuts could leave a shortfall of as many as 520,000 jobs, which will make competition for available positions even more acute.
