Companies with workers in office-based roles such as finance jobs in London have been advised to conduct in-house team-building sessions.According to Penny Tamkin - associate director for the Institute of Employment Studies, an independent body established in 1969 - employers should not take the view that such activities necessarily have to be "totally unrelated to work". Ms Tamkin explained that many bosses tend to assume that bonding exercises run to improve co-operation and morale among a workforce have to be conducted externally and must be done on tasks not linked to employees' roles. However, she added that managers can implement programmes within their office which will see "loads of people working together on something that's really difficult, really new and different to their day job". This comes after Adrienne Burgess of the Fatherhood Institute said recently that more firms are adopting a positive stance to allowing employees to take paternity leave. Posted by Daniel Frost
