Report: More companies looking to recruit in coming months Britons searching for office-based roles such as business development jobs in the City of London may witness an upturn in their fortunes in the coming months, new research has suggested.

According to the Recruitment and Employment Confederation's (REC) most recent Jobs Outlook - a monthly report based on the responses of 600 organisations - a significant number of companies are looking to increase their permanent workforce in the near future.

The April version of this study established that 23 per cent of firms plan to boost the number of full-time members of staff on their books over the next quarter, while an additional 64 per cent indicated their intention to maintain their current workforce.

Roger Tweedy, director of research at the REC, observed that these figures show the UK is experiencing a "transitional jobs market" and added that both private sector investment and trade will "start accelerating in the second half of the year".

This follows on from Jane Ashcroft of Anchor calling on employers to avoid treating age as an important factor behind their decision over whether to hire someone or not.
