Employees 'now more aware of company benefits' The worldwide economic slump has resulted in a growing number of employees in roles such as accountancy jobs becoming more aware of the benefits offered to them by their company.

That is the view of Matt Duffy, partnerships manager at consultancy Lorica, who feels that the pressure the recession has added to individuals' lives has resulted in many taking the time to carefully scrutinise their outgoings in order to reduce their expenditure.

Mr Duffy explained that a growing number of workers are eager to discover whether certain costs can be covered by their firm within their contracts.

"People are looking to see what benefits are provided to them by their employers that could actually replace insurance-based products that they've taken out at home," he noted.

This follows on from the publication of research by Canada Life recently (May 6th), which found that 61 per cent of people take the benefits on offer to them into account when considering a new job role, an increase from 52 per cent surveyed in 2009.
