| Managers of SMEs 'enjoy better relationship with staff' |

Managers of small and medium-sized enterprises (SMEs) offering roles such as finance jobs in London enjoy a much more fluid and cordial relationship with their staff than their counterparts at larger organisations. That is according to Phil McCabe, spokesman for the Forum of Private Business (FPB), who feels that such bosses are usually "much closer" to their employees and therefore maintain a "more informal relationship" with them. This, Mr McCabe continued, means they are more likely to take on board any suggestions made by members of staff in terms of how their firm can develop, which in turn then breeds more positivity. "When employees suggest better ways of doing things, it can often be overlooked or lost in the system within a large company," he noted. The FPB official went on to say that managers in bigger companies can often treat suggestions with "a degree of suspicion". Recent research by T-Mobile found that 56 per cent of SME owners would use their own gut instinct to make a business decision. Posted by Daniel Frost
