An increasing number of professionals fulfilling roles such as business development jobs in the City of London are becoming aware of salary sacrifice initiatives. That is the view of Matt Duffy, partnerships manager for Lorica, who said there is a growing interest around such schemes, which can be used for supplements like childcare vouchers or pension contributions. Mr Duffy explained that more media coverage about salary sacrifice had resulted in a "general increase" in interest of them from employees across all sectors, as many are now "thinking a lot more about the tax efficiencies that can be driven through the workplace". He went on to say that this is also having an effect on the recruitment sector, insofar as applicants are now more inclined to consider the benefits offered by a position they are interested in before applying. Recently, Standard Life found that 63 per cent of people do not think they could live on the government's proposed state pension of £140 per week. Posted by James Strang
