Small and medium-sized enterprises (SMEs) with employees such as experienced sales staff should look to expand their understanding of web-based technology in the near future, an expert has said.According to Phil Kingsland, site director at online resource Know The Net, this represents an ideal way for SMEs to boost their income in the aftermath of the global economic downturn. These firms may wish to train their workers in office jobs to become more technologically-savvy, as doing so could have a positive long-term effect on their organisation. "There's tremendous scope for small businesses to increase the proportion of their turnover that comes from the internet," Mr Kingsland explained. He went on to say that managers of SMEs should "read around developments in web technology", as this can "make a huge difference" to the online revenues they generate. Last week (May 24th), the Interactive Media in Retail Group revealed that the annual British e-retail market grew from £0.8 billion in 2000 to £58.8 billion last year. Posted by Mary King
