London recruitment agencies are likely to be working alongside a growing number of older professionals seeking a job in the near future, an expert has suggested.According to Phil Flaxton, chief executive officer of Work Wise UK, more people over the age of 50 are now deciding to continue on their career path as opposed to taking retirement. Mr Flaxton was speaking after the publication of research by the Trades Union Congress last week (July 13th), which revealed that 64.9 per cent of individuals between the ages of 50 and 64 were in work as of December 2010. This represents a significant hike on the 56.5 per cent recorded in April 1992 and, the Work Wise UK official noted, is a sign of the times in the aftermath of the recession. "Because of the fact that people are living longer, I think people's expectations and attitudes towards retirement are changing as well," he stated. Posted by James Strang
