Companies offering office jobs in London are likely to be pleased with the Bank of England's decision to maintain interest rates for at least another month. That is if comments made by John Walker, national chairman of the Federation of Small Businesses (FSB), are anything to go by, as he feels this will benefit firms of all sizes attempting to get back on their feet in the aftermath of the global economic downturn. It was revealed yesterday (August 4th) that the Bank's Monetary Policy Committee had opted to keep the base rate at its historically low level of 0.5 per cent for the 29th month in succession. And Mr Walker noted this is good news for organisations trying to get back on an even keel financially and added his belief that the figure should not be boosted until "at least early 2012" as, by then, "the economy should be in a stronger position".
