Managers advised to listen to ideas from workers Managers should strive to listen to ideas put forward about their business by experienced admin staff, an expert has suggested.

According to Alex Evans, editorial director and co-chair of the Orange National Business Awards (ONBA), bosses can help their firms become hotbeds of innovation by making sure they engage properly with members of staff on the future direction of their organisation.

Mr Evans explained that through encouraging and championing proposals from employees, officials can enhance the atmosphere in their place of work while also improving the output of the company.

"Some of the best examples of really big businesses demonstrating excellence is where senior management and CEOs have championed certain innovations [within] the business, to make them more visible," he noted.

It seems that more smaller businesses may be taking such advice on board, as the number of finalists in this year's ONBAs from this sector has gone up markedly in comparison to previous ceremonies.
