Staff appointments in Scotland rose in July, research shows Experienced sales staff seeking new roles have faced improved conditions in Scotland in recent times, new research has shown.

According to the latest Bank of Scotland Report on Jobs published yesterday (August 15th), there was an increase in the number of vacancies made available for both permanent and temporary staff last month north of the border.

Meanwhile, full-time appointments into positions such as sales recruitment roles rose rapidly throughout July and Scottish recruitment agencies are said to have managed this increase in demand well.

However, pay inflation in the country eased marginally due to the fact that more professionals were actively seeking jobs.

Donald McRae, chief economist at the Bank of Scotland, commented: "The number of both long and short-term job vacancies increased markedly in July, with the rate of vacancy growth rising to a three-month high."

However, he warned that this trend may not continue because of the knock-on effect of issues such as the ongoing eurozone debt crisis in nations like Greece and Portugal.
