Many micro-firms 'find recruitment challenging' PDF Print E-mail
Many micro-firms 'find recruitment challenging' Around half of all micro-businesses in the UK find recruiting suitable professionals like admin staff a challenge, a new study has shown.

According to research published yesterday (August 17th) by the British Chambers of Commerce (BCC), some 50 per cent of firms with less than ten employees experience tough times when looking to add to their workforce.

The survey - which involved questioning more than 2,000 owners of micro-firms - established that 55 per cent of these organisations currently want to expand by appointing more staff following the recession.

However, many of these companies feel they cannot do this effectively due to worries about employing an ill-suited candidate.

Dr Adam Marshall, director of policy at the BCC, observed: "For too many firms, burdensome employment legislation deters them from taking on staff in the first place."

Earlier this week (August 16th), the Chartered Management Institute revealed that 42 per cent of all office jobs workers are unsatisfied with how their career has progressed.
