Meetings 'stifle productivity among staff' Managers have been warned that arranging meetings within their workplace can stunt the productivity of professionals fulfilling office jobs within their organisation.

According to Al Pittampalli, author of Read This Before Our Next Meeting, get-togethers involving professionals cause more harm than good to a working environment, due to the fact they slow down the productivity of individuals.

Mr Pittampalli explained that while bosses may feel they are doing the right thing by arranging a discussion to enable people to get their points of view across, many members of staff see them as unwanted distractions that only serve to obstruct their routine.

"Deep down, what people want desperately inside of organisations is simple: they want to make a difference ... meetings get in the way of your project getting fulfilled," he noted.

This comes after research by Aviva revealed that 25 per cent of employees across the UK only take a lunch break when they feel their workload allows it.
