London recruitment agencies should strive to enable employees to expand their roles in order to retain and keep them happy. That is the advice given to managers by Steve Huxham, chairman of the Recruitment Society, who believes offering members of staff the opportunity to develop their abilities is essential in the aftermath of the global economic downturn. Mr Huxham was speaking after the publication of a study by the Chartered Management Institute, which found that around half of all Britons feel they are currently behind where they would like to be on their chosen career path. The expert noted that he was unsurprised by this figure and indicated that giving people the chance to extend themselves professionally is key to retaining their best workers, as not doing so will leave them feeling unfulfilled. "The more opportunities you give to somebody to do different things, the more likely they are to stay," he added. Posted by James Strang
