Positive attitude 'essential for job hunters' Professionals searching for roles such as finance jobs in London must make sure they conduct their hunt in a positive frame of mind in order to be successful.

That is the advice offered by Kirsty Burgess of chartered human resources organisation Reabur, who believes that approaching the search for a new position with the right attitude is absolutely essential.

Yesterday (September 14th), figures from the Office for National Statistics revealed that, in the three-month period leading up to July, the country's employment rate was recorded to be at 70.5 per cent, with 29.17 million people in jobs.

However, the unemployment rate is still at 7.9 per cent, a figure showing that the business environment is still struggling to recover fully in the aftermath of the global economic downturn.

But despite these figures, Ms Burgess insisted there are opportunities out there for individuals determined enough to find them.

She explained that many professionals may have found themselves being rejected when applying for vacant roles due to the intense competition currently present in the market, but added that believing in themselves can give candidates the edge over their rivals.

"Whilst nobody likes rejection and it is very difficult to remain positive, a negative approach to job hunting and a negative self-perception will be seen by employers and means that chances of success are further reduced," the expert noted.

In addition, she went in to indicate that it is "vital" for all jobseekers to approach "each and every application and interview as if it is their first and a job they really want", as this level of enthusiasm will be evident to prospective employers.

Recently, research by private equity body ECI suggested that professionals may find it easier to find a job in the near future as the majority of small and medium-sized enterprises are "highly confident" about the possibility of recruiting staff over the coming year or so.
