Companies with people fulfilling roles such as finance jobs in London may suffer due to the Agency Workers Regulations (AWR), a government official has admitted.According to the Daily Mail, business secretary Vince Cable has written a letter to fellow members of the Conservative-Liberal Democrat alliance outlining his concerns regarding the forthcoming employment law alterations. As of October 1st, firms will be legally obliged to give temporary workers the same rights as their full-time members of staff after they have been with their company for a period of 12 weeks. Groups such as the Recruitment and Employment Confederation have urged the coalition to conduct an early review of these changes, but Mr Cable has insisted the administration has a "constrained" ability to amend the AWR despite the "genuine concerns" of businesses. This is largely because trade union leaders are said to support the plans and the minister stated he has been unable to convince such bodies otherwise. Posted by Mary King
