AWR 'will not affect benefits of temporary workers' The benefits of part-time staff recruitment in London are still there for companies in the capital despite the implementation of the Agency Workers Regulations (AWR).

That is the view of Dr Clare Kelliher, professor of work and organisation at the Cranfield School of Management, who has stated that while these new rules may "encourage employers to think a bit more carefully" about their hiring strategies, temporary workers will remain a popular option.

As of last Saturday (October 1st), organisations are now legally obliged to offer the same contractual terms and benefits to interim professionals as their permanent members of staff once they have been working for them for 12 weeks.

Such a change to the country's employment law system has divided opinion among business figures as to whether it is beneficial or not.

However, Dr Kelliher has insisted that those firms eager to enjoy the flexibility offered by temps will not be overly-affected by the AWR.
