Small businesses 'do have financing options' Many smaller organisations with office staff in London remain unaware of the finance options open to them in the wake of the global economic downturn.

That is according to Stephen Johnson, new business director at Shawbrook Bank, who believes this lack of knowledge is one of the biggest obstacles to firms trying to develop and grow in such difficult circumstances.

Research published by the financier earlier this week (October 17th) revealed that the majority of small business managers feel banks and building societies fail to use common sense when they make a decision on a loan application.

In addition, a large proportion think lenders are completely clear and transparent in their dealings with such customers.

However, Mr Johnson insisted that companies can access good deals and added it is important for them to remember to not just focus on high street banks.

"There are other funding opportunities out there," he added.
