An increasing number of experienced admin staff are likely to see email being phased out from their job in the near future, an expert has said.According to Edward Saatchi - co-founder of NationalField, a networking portal created solely for businesses - social media is taking over in professional environments as the contact tool of choice. Mr Saatchi explained that the last few years have been something of a "tipping point" in recent times, as "more communication points are being transmitted through social networks than through email". "Email is a dying form and social media is taking over," he added. In the last few years, many managers have softened their stance towards the use of websites such as Facebook and Twitter in the workplace and have begun incorporating them into their marketing and advertising strategies. And Mr Saatchi noted that in the US, there is now the feeling that any company failing to embrace social media in the next four or five years will be left behind". Posted by James Strang
