Firms with experienced admin staff should be able to sack workers failing to fulfil their duties properly without offering reasons for doing so.That is according to a leaked report from the government, which stated that the country's current employment legislation is serving only to undermine the post-recession economic recovery, the Daily Telegraph reports. The document from Downing Street apparently labels present laws as "terrible" insofar as the permit employees to "coast along" while also restricting managers from being able to recruit adequate replacements. Venture capitalist Adrian Beecroft is the author of this study, which was commissioned by the prime minister. "A proportion of employees, secure in the knowledge that their employer will be reluctant to dismiss them, work at a level well below their true capacity," Mr Beecroft noted. This comes after the Confederation of British Industry called on the administration to recognise the significant role medium-sized firms can play in the recovery. Posted by Daniel Frost
