Govt 'must not alter unfair dismissal laws' Office staff in London should not witness any alterations to the country's unfair dismissal rules in the near future.

That is the opinion of general secretary of the Trades Union Congress (TUC) - an organisation that represents more than six million professionals in the UK - Brendan Barber, who believes there are no advantages to such employment law reforms being made.

Mr Barber was speaking after a government-commissioned report by Adrian Beecroft leaked, in which it was stated that present legislation surrounding unfair dismissal is "terrible".

The venture capitalist recommended that the Conservative-Liberal Democrat alliance makes changes sooner rather than later, as doing so will help the fiscal recovery through lifting confidence in the business sector.

But the TUC official feels reforms would not achieve this goal by doing "absolutely nothing to boost the economy" and "terrifying" workers across the nation.

"Employers already have plenty of powers to make fair dismissals," he added.
