Professionals in finance jobs in London should not see their rights relating to unfair dismissal change in the near future, a new report has stated.According to the Chartered Institute of Personnel and Development's (CIPD) latest Work Horizons analyses published yesterday (October 31st), the government needs to focus all its efforts on promoting better leadership rather than making legal reforms. This comes after a document commissioned by the administration that was leaked last week noted that the Conservative-Liberal Democrat alliance should seriously consider scrapping current unfair dismissal guidelines. It was stated that doing so would help boost the economy in the wake of the recession, but the CIPD has dismissed this notion as it would fail to tackle the root cause of the issue of professional underachievement. "The reason is not stringent employment legislation ... but a crisis of management and leadership skills," Katerina Rudiger, policy advisor at the body, said. Posted by Daniel Frost
