London recruitment agencies are witnessing the demand for permanent IT professionals continuing to grow even in the present economic climate. That is according to the latest Report on Jobs published by the Recruitment and Employment Confederation (REC), which indicated full-time members of staff in this area of expertise remain highly-prized by companies. The number of permanent placements made across all employment sectors has dipped for the first time since 2009, but this trend is being bucked by the IT market. On the REC's scale, any score above 50 shows positive growth in recruitment and, throughout October, this arena witnessed expansion of 57.2 - more than five points higher than the market as a whole. Jeff Brooks - technology chair at the body, which has 5,550 individual members - observed: "It is striking that, even at a time when the UK economy as a whole appears to be wobbling, demand for qualified IT professionals remains healthy."
