Expert: Keeping staff happy vital Managers must strive to keep employees such as admin staff happy if their business is to flourish in the current economic climate.

That is the opinion of Carole Spiers, chief executive of the Carole Spiers Group, who believes that taking care of members of a workforce is absolutely vital in the aftermath of the global economic downturn.

"A business thrives through its people so make sure they are strong and make sure that they are resilient," she advised.

Ms Spiers explained that while stress is a largely unavoidable feature of the modern-day workplace, bosses can limit the damage it causes by altering the way in which their employees are set up to deal with it.

She added that "performance, productivity and bottom line profit" can all be boosted through proper management.

This comes after Bupa published research earlier this week (November 21st) showing that 51 per cent of HR bosses feel absenteeism is causing stress among employees due to the increased workload it causes.
