Firms may be missing out on the best talent when searching for new employees at London recruitment agencies and other regional consultancies due to outdated practices. This is the suggestion of Dianah Worman, diversity adviser at the Chartered Institute of Personnel and Development, who said businesses need to connect better if they want to survive. She remarked: "Your recruitment and selection systems could be too narrowly informed or biased but you don't realise that is the case." According to Ms Worman, this can occur when processes, systems and rules have been built up over a long period of time, without being re-evaluated for currency. Companies need to be on their "toes at all times", she explained, looking for new ways to do business and open opportunities. James Carmody of Reculver Solicitors recently warned enterprises to properly screen candidates before offering them job positions, particularly against the backdrop of current economic problems.
