Small business start-ups are finding it difficult to find suitably skilled employees such as experienced admin staff, according to industry body the Federation of Small Businesses (FSB) and All Party Parliamentary Small Business Group. The groups are launching an inquiry into the situation to see if there are any ways to help entrepreneurs recruit new staff. London recruitment agencies are just one of the ways in which small businesses can find a list of suitable candidates for a job. A survey from the FSB shows 47 per cent of entrepreneurs have also found regulation requirements onerous, while 34 per cent have had difficulty in securing finance. John Walker, national chairman of the FSB, said that these issues can prevent small businesses from growing. "With the private sector being relied on to drive economic recovery, these barriers need to be removed," he remarked, "Budding entrepreneurs should be supported in setting-up in business, and existing businesses should be encouraged to innovate, take on staff and grow." The FSB has called for the graduate internship scheme to be reinstated and for Work Trials to be extended, which could create 46,000 more jobs. Posted by Mary King
