A Flexible Work Commission has been set up by the Recruitment and Employment Confederation to make recommendations to the government on ways flexible working can enhance productivity and boost skills in the labour market. More admin staff and other employees are expected to request flexible working practices in the future as people seek a better work/life balance and as new technologies make it easier to work in different ways and from different locations. The Commission will examine how flexible working practices can further benefit businesses and employees and it will also see how employers are currently managing flexible working in their companies. Recommendations will be made to the government on how flexible working can boost productivity, skills development and even career prospects. "This initiative will not only drive forward the political debate, but will also develop practical solutions for employers on maximising the benefits of flexible working arrangements," said David Frost, chair of the Commission.
