Demand for temporary and part time staff recruitment in London has not been too affected by the recent Agency Workers Regulations (AWR), according to the Recruitment and Employment Confederation (REC).It has published its second AWR Monitor, which collates the latest data and feedback on the regulations. Tom Hadley, the REC's director of policy and professional services, noted that the effect of AWR largely depends on the sector and size of the agency. "However, the overall conclusion is that demand for temporary staff remains strong despite the new regulations coming into force," he said. The REC's latest JobsOutlook report shows that demand for temporary staff has been stable and is up on the same time last year, despite AWR. It found that 81 per cent of employers plan to grow or keep their agency workforce at existing levels. A similar number (83 per cent) hope to boost or retain their temporary staff levels in the next year. Reacting to the AWR implementation in October, the report found that there was a seven per cent fall in the number of employers planning to use fewer temporary workers compared to last month.
