Office staff in London dream of a new careerThere could be a surge of applicants looking for a new job in the coming months as workers adopt a New Year's resolution to change their career.

This is according to a survey of 2,000 workers by training provider Lifetime, seen by the Telegraph, which finds that office staff in London and other workers are keen to move jobs.

Much of the desire to leave their current employer is down to dissatisfaction, with 40 per cent of British workers failing to take a lunch break and working overtime.

Indeed, only-one third of employees stick to their contracted working hours and a similar number still check their emails once they are home.

"Whether it is taking the time to switch off from work via a hobby, retraining or moving jobs, the start of the year is the perfect time to consider your options," Nigel Wallace, development director at Lifetime, told the news provider.

The survey revealed that 68 per cent of workers had set a work-related New Year's resolution for 2012, with the quest for an improved work/life balance an important goal.
