Pensions provider offers help to auto-enrolment employersPensions provider Friends Life has launched an online hub to help employers facing increased admin with auto-enrolment.

New pension reforms that will automatically enrol employees onto a work pension scheme come into effect from October and the hub will collect information from payroll and HR systems, assess it against the new rules and determine what pension arrangements and contributions will be needed for each employee.

The hub could help office staff in London and other cities manage their extra workload and provide information on understanding the new rules.

"Making auto-enrolment work will require employers to review their employee base for eligibility and contribution levels at every pay date," explained Colin Williams, managing director of corporate benefits at Friends Life.

"This will be a complex task, particularly for companies with large numbers of employees, or who pay wages weekly, have multiple payroll and HR systems or which have employees whose pay varies."

He added that auto-enrolment will make a "huge difference" to millions of UK workers who do not save anything for retirement. However, its success will be down to ensuring that employees are on the right schemes and communicating the benefits to staff.
