Employers advised to make staff feel appreciatedEmployers hiring PAs in London have been told to make their staff feel appreciated in order to have a good working relationship with them.

This is the advice of Elizabeth Bacchus, director of career development company thesuccessfulcv.com. She said that making staff feel valued and recognising their achievements should be made known regularly and not just at times of appraisals.

"Regular acknowledgement is hugely important to everyone," she stressed. "Managers who provide regular feedback to their staff and an open door policy not only develop happier staff, but also long-term loyalty."

Ms Bacchus said that talking to employees is also hugely important as communicating by emails and memos has the risk of losing the impact of the message.

"Leadership by involvement is thought highly of by staff, so illustrating that you are willing to get your hands dirty will play a huge part in keeping staff on-side," she recommended.

Her comments come after Sheila Attwood, pay and benefits editor at XpertHR.co.uk, said that the number of companies offering voluntary benefits to staff has changed little in the past few years.
