Employees in the later stages of their career will be more likely to stay at a company if they are offered further development.This is according to Elizabeth Bacchus, director of thesuccessfulcv.com, who suggested that any organisation that develops their staff with structured learning has a greater chance of retaining their staff. Such programmes could be particularly important as admin staff and other workers are now expected to work for longer. "Most people want to develop in their careers and if a company shows a commitment to supporting individuals in their career development, staff will stay if these needs are met," Ms Bacchus explained. She advised employers to create simple and effective performance and assessment tools that can be clearly understood. "Having strategic successions plans in place ensures that companies have development plans … to support the future needs of the business [and] will subsequently maximise the retention of staff," the expert added. Pensions provider Friends Life this week announced the launch of a new online hub to help employers facing increased admin with pensions auto-enrolment, catered to each member of staff.
