The Government aims to bring together the work of equality commissions in a new body that will take responsibility for new laws on age, religion or belief and sexual orientation, and for the first time provide institutional support for human rights. A Task Force has been set up to advise on developing the detail of the new body. The working title of the body is the Commission for Equality and Human Rights (CEHR). It promotes an inclusive agenda, underlining the importance of equality for all in society as well as working to combat discrimination affecting specific groups. It will promote equal opportunities for all and tackle barriers to participation. |
